US Navy Veteran Lyle Hicks served aboard the USS Durham (LKA-114) during the Vietnam War and participated in the rescue of over 4,500 south Vietnamese refugees. During the rescue effort, the North Vietnamese military threatened to attack the US ships, so the ships were ordered to leave the area, leaving behind many other refugees who regrettably perished at the hands of the NVA.

This was amazing, I had no idea this would effect me like it did. An amazing story. I’m at a loss for words. All that comes to mind is, thank you Brother & thank you to all the men & women of the armed forces, past, present, future, active & inactive.
